Forgive me but that's not "handled" in my book. That's like
telling someone "well just run a separate vm with the correct version
of windows for each app" and leaves the end user with the problem of
now having to patch 4 versions. And then when they do patch all 4 versions
and 24% of their apps break they can't tell which broke.

All that's happened is the problem of being fully backwards compatible has
moved from being Microsoft's or software vendors problem to being the users
problem. This is why end users HATE java.
