Replying to a message of Jim Adams to Glenn Meadows: JA> From: Jim Adams JA> Reminiscent of the turntable speed wars back in the 45 days. Had a JA> friend who was a DJ back in the '70s. He was complaining of a rival JA> station cranking their turntables to 48 RPM in order to sound JA> "hotter". More likely the reason was to get the music over with faster so they could cram in another commercial or two. A station in Omaha used to do this - and even with my 'tin ear' I could tell the music wasn't quite right (pitch was too high). There was another station that once claimed it played 30 songs in an hour; do the math, at 2+ minutes per song it ain't possible - unless you speed up the turntables to shorten the playing time. --- FleetStreet 1.19+* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:2905/3) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 2905/3 14/0 5 140/1 123/500 379/1 633/267 |
