TD Thanks for the answer Torre. I think I neglected to say that my
version of Paradox is PDOXWIN 5.0. Any way I worked a little more with
the IIF method and found out that if I don't have a value in a number
format field the blank value is considered by PDOXWIN as a 0. I want to
leave the field blank so that customer order "total" is not calculated.
The reason for this is because the total of order will change after
shipping charges are added. I hope this will save confusion that the
customer will have when he sees that the invoice total is different than
order total. I want the "total" field to calculate only if I enter a
value into the order form: either a 0 or greater value. This way the
customer will be guaranteed the cost of shipping. I hope this is clear
to you. Thanks again for the response!!

Tom,
fwiw, I believe there's a setting in the Session setting that allows
you to indicate you want discrimination between blanks and zeros...

On the menu bar try Properties->ObjectPal and then check the Advanced box to
get all of the built in methods.
