Jeff,

That's not what my pilot friend says; but the 727 does have a different
huge flaw: inability to recover from a stall.  Because of the way the 727
has its engines mounted all in the rear, if it gets to stall attitude the
airflow to the engines isn't sufficient to restart them.  Then you can't
push the nose down, and you have a brick.
