BW>Greetings, All!
BW>In FLYING magazine, there was an article about a DC-9 that landed
BW>gear up and took 7000 feet to come to a stop. My question is: How
BW>much runway would it have taken to stop if there were
BW>wheels underneath?
BW>                                             -==-
I believe that with good brakes, full spoilers, full flaps and thrust
reversing, anti-skid operating, touch down in the touchdown zone and
flying the proper approach speeds, I belive it would be be in the
neighborhood of approximately 2500 feet on a dry runway with a head
wind. There are many variables. This figure is not based upon
performance charts, but from experience on the DC-9 with a competent
crew performing the checklists!!!!   *:-<)
