You park your car outside your house? What happens when some clown sticks a
rag in the gas tank and lights it? Well it's sort of like that.

Out here we don't have those beer keg size tanks, we have these big white
tanks that lay on their sides, usually about 6' or longer and 3' diameter.
They hold enough LNP to last most of the winter (as a heating source). I
would imagine if you shot one it wouldn't explode, it would just leak. The
explosions are mostly hollywood lore just like exploding cars.

Lots of fuel oil tanks as well, did you know if you had a bucket of fuel
oil you could put a cigarrette out in it and it won't light? If you throw
fuel oil on a pile of wood you can't light it with a match, etc.

Personally my bet with the LNP containers is if you put a lit candle as a
flame source and shot the tank right next to it, you would just end up with
a big blow torch, it wouldn't explode because the fire can't get into the
tank with the fuel rushing out. However if you fill a balloon with LNP and
then float it over a lit flame, it does make a most impressive explosion,
acetylene makes a much more satisfying hollywood like explosion though..
