1. Make sure COM.SYS and VCOM.SYS are not loaded.
2. Make sure the following lines are AFTER your mouse driver, assuming you 
have modems on COMs 1 and 2:
DEVICE=D:\SIO\SIO.SYS (COM1:115200,,,-) (COM2:115200,,,-)
DEVICE=D:\SIO\VSIO.SYS
DEVICE=D:\SIO\VX00.SYS
Change the locked baud rate (currently 115200 above) as appropriate.
You should now reboot and have a working, if unregistered, SIO driver.
