I hear all sorts of things claimed about the constitution by wierd
fringe groups, including a lot of "Let's return to the original ideas of
the founding fathers." I almost always respond to *that* statement with
the question, "Why do you want to take away my right to vote?" I then
get all sorts of wierd arguements about how that *wasn't* the founding
fathers original intent; but the original constitution did, in fact,
prohibit my voting. It *was* their original intent. I don't want to
ever go back to the original ideas of the founding fathers. I'm
delighted we have amendments.

Yep!

I think I'll go find the Canadian Charter of Rights and freedoms; and
read it myself.
