Have you considered moving to a software based KVM that runs over Ethernet?
(Kavoom.biz) or Stardock Multiplicity (and I'm sure there are others).

Also, to directly answer your question, yes there are KVM's that are USB
based now. I bought one that I'm using on my 2 Mac's, I think it was a
Logitech one. Even switches sound between boxes being
controlled/displayed. (This one is hardware based). I use both types.

I've got the Kavoom.biz one as well as the KVM software that allows for
multiple monitors/computers. Kavoom also has remote control software, ala
PCAnywhere. Good products, good support.

When I first got the multi-computer on multi-monitor version, monitor # 4
quadrant would move the mouse at an angle up, when you scrolled sideways,
but ONLY on monitor number 4. Had a patch/update in about 14 hours.
