It's all about votes & money, the IP cartel has the money but the consumers have the votes & the more silly restrictions placed unfairly on the consumer the better for an eventual swing back of the pendulum. However.....till then...I'm not buying some crippled crap when DVD is good enough for me so as a consumer I get 2 votes, (a) at the ballot box & (b) at the till.
