I posted the DivXx 6.4 codec worked to play Geo's files but there = appears
to be other problems associated with that release and I wouldn't =
recommend installing it until DivX releases a Vista supported version - =
The DivX forum has more than a few grumbling users ( DivX does say = their
latest codec is not supported in Vista )

http://forums.divx.com/forum/viewTopic.php?id=3D2432

1 well divx files DO play on my vista rtm BUT every time I open a dir =
which has divx avi files in it I *think* the thumbnail feature tries to =
render the thumbnail icons of the files and I get a small window opening =
saying some host or run dll file has stopped working and I just close = the
warning and nothing happens I can continue and explorer does not = crash
and im good to go so if you just want to play files it seems fine = just
turn off thumbnails in folder views and the files play fine in = WMP11 as
well as nero showtime and MPC. In regards FFdshow I have no = idea although
I have read multiple times on forums that it works without = any problems
at all

=20
so, if you want to play files only either use ffdshow or instal divx 6.4 =
( i just instaled the codec and took tick out of all the garbage they =
force on you i.e web player divx player all that useless stuff and it = was
fine apart from that warning window thing *see above*)

It could simply be a buggy codec. Did you try the latest version? =
Someone else posted that he installed the latest divx player and it =
worked for him. Maybe that fixed the problem. If you already have the =
latest version then maybe it is buggy only in some configurations.

If I code it with WM9 codec it works, I can view higher resolutions =
but they=20
    are jumpy.

I don't understand, if the xvid codec works for lower resolutions, =
what=20
could change that makes it not work for higher ones when it =
obviously does=20
    for others here?

One that is in the box. WMV would be a great choice.
