DSS is Domain Sap Server. It's a special function that must exist for
Netware/IP to function. Basically, each workstation designates at least one
DSS. The DSS adds IPX headers to the IP packet to be sent to non Netware/IP
server.
Set it up by first defining a DSS domain in DNS. Say your organization's
domain name is ramsey.com. Then say dss.ramsey.com is your dss domain.
Define a DNS domain called dss.ramsey.com. When you install Netware/IP,
specify the 1st Netware/IP server as the primary DSS server for
dss.ramsey.com. When you configure Netware/IP on the workstation, declare
the server server1.ramsey.com as your DSS server for DSS domain
dss.ramsey.com.
Clear as mud perhaps. The key is to define the DSS domain in DNS. Must be
done before continuing.
