CYŻ I'll still stick with the dirt as being the stupidest state
CYŻ law. It came from out of nowhere and begs so many questions:
CYŻ     How many different soils were considered for this
CYŻ     coveted honor?
CYŻ     What distinguished San Joaquin Soil so that it
CYŻ     could lay claim to the noble designation as the
CYŻ     official dirt of the great State of California?
CYŻ     What of the soil from other parts of California --
CYŻ     what made them inferior to the San Joaquin Soil?
All VERY good questions!
Hell, I -=LIVE=- in the middle of the San Joaquin valley, and I have
NO IDEA WHATSOEVER what they mean by "San Joaquin Valley Soil".
Depending where you go in this valley, the soil can be adobe, loam,
peat, or any of the above combined with sand and/or rocks from the
size of dried peas up to the size of a VW bus...
The only thing I can think of was that the "honor" was bestowed upon
us because our valley is one of the most productive agricultural
areas on earth.  If you go anywhere in the world and buy canned
vegetables or fruit, there is a VERY good chance that they were
grown, and canned, here in the San Joaquin Valley.
Now the question is why didn't they just say the above in the FIRST
place???
Too reasonable, I guess.  And it would have made altogether too much
sense...
CYŻ     And the list goes on... etc., etc., etc. ...
CYŻ Coming in 1999: our esteemed state solons will no doubt feel
CYŻ compelled to designate an "Official State Smog." Which lucky
CYŻ community will get the bragging rights to being the home of
CYŻ the "Official Smog of the State of California"? Stay tuned...
Don't give them any ideas.  I really don't think that they need any
help in this area...
With stuff like this coming out of Sacramento, it seems obvious that
our elected servants have ALTOGETHER too much free time on their
hands...
Oh yes.....
California also as an "Official State Mollusk".  It's the BANANA
SLUG!!!
