I recently started getting errors using Netscape so I deltree'd the whole
directory. I reinstalled Netscape but not the dialer cuz I did not have aq
backup of it. I am trying to setup Trumpet Winsock as a replacement and have
set it up to the point where my scripts are working. I am having some
problems though.
WHen trying to use Netscape, i get the error where it says the address does
not have a DNS address. Also, mIRC cannot connect to any IRC servers.
Here is what I have done so far:
- I have copied winsock.dll to both my h:\netscape directory and my
h:\netscape\winsock directory.
- I have made sure that the PATH statement in my autoexec.bat includes both
h:\netscape and h:\netscape\winsock
Heres one thing that could be wrong though. After winsock has finished
inputing the username and password, it tries to "switch over to internet". I
dont understand what this means and so when it is unable to do so, i dont
know what to do. Could this be what is wrong?
Also, should i be using SLIP or PPP?
I am assuming that Netscape knows that my computer is now connected to my
isp cuz it gives me a different error when i am not connected. But i also
wonder... why cant netscape call Trumpet Winsock like it used to when i was
using a different dialer? I have set trumpet winsock to login when there is
network activity... :(
If you know of a simple, basic dialer proggie for win 3.x please tell me.
... It's bad luck to be superstitious.
