 Well, 2 lightbulbs would have saved the bulb. I doubt if it would
have saved the inverter, though. :(
 The inverter probably didn't draw enough current to heat the bulbs
enough to make their internal resistance high enough to drop enough
voltage to leave no more than 120 volts for the inverter.
 You might have gotten by with putting the two bulbs in series, and
connecting the inverter across one of the bulbs.
