subject: Batch Image Resizing.. Continued

From: Chris Robinson

Howdy ho.

I posted a while back about batch image resizing in Linux. I'd tried
various options but found the best one to be the resize in the GIMP. I
then found a useful tutorial that had a script-fu detailed that resized
images. I tested it out and it worked - yippie! Now I know the script
works, it can be called from a bash prompt to batch resize images. I
posted to the message boards at the site where I got the info from but
no-one's replied since March 26th (I'm wondering how active the boards
there are?). Anyway, below's what I posted and I was wondering if anyone
here could help (since at this point it's more of a bash command issue than
a GIMP one) - many thanks, Chris:

.....I came across this site and read the tutorial here:
http://gug.sunsite.dk/tutorials/tomcat17/ . It was just what I was after
and step2 "creating the Script-fu" went fine. I created the
script and ran it i the Gimp - nice. However, step5 (calling the Gimp
automatically) didn't work.
I ran through some of the steps outlined in step4 to try to troubleshoot
the problem and found out a few things:
- The Xvfb as "1:0" is wrong for my system and I don't know how to find
out the right one to use (newbie here!).
- I got rid of that line and tried to run it manually from a bash
prompt. I did:
$ gimp -b '(script-fu-rsc 100 100 "infile.jpg" "outfile.jpg")'
'(gimp-quit 0)'
This worked fine, so I figured I could adapt the shell script to just leave
out the "--display" and other switches (except "-b"
obviously) and just to try to get it working but still no joy - I even
tried typing the entire "for" statement at a bash prompt.
