The "real" Jay walked by and said, "Who the hell is this guy?"

Then a smart-ass Mr. Wizard type stepped up and explained to the
"real" Jay that you are a copy he made just to see if it could be
done.  Not to worry, he'll dispose of the copy (you) after he's written a
few notes about the experiment.

Complain as you might, the rest of the world might have a bit of trouble
being convinced that Mr. Wizard was going to kill "Jay Hailey"
while Jay was sitting in front of his PC screaming about his e-mail
account.  :)
