The MS FAQ carefully steps around addressing at least one of Peter's
concerns. Let me see if I can describe a practical exmaple...
Say I have a Quad-HD display (3840x2160) with my normal desktop stuff on it.
It (or some component in the chain, such as the video card) does not have HDCP.
I open a "protected" HD source in a window on the desktop in its
native resolution (say, 1920x1080).
I can expect the HD source to be displayed in a lower effective resolution,
assuming it displays at all.
Will the rest of my desktop be displayed in a lower resolution while the HD
source plays?
