Although your tongue was in your cheek, there is unfortunately much truth
in this. Canadians AFAIK consume far more energy per capita than any other
country (yes, even more than the good old US of A).

Other than the obvious fact that it's cold(er) up here than most developed
countries, I don't know the root cause of this.
