DN>Verry interresting, Frank. I removed the ^Z and WP still didn't like
DN>it. I used ^F5,1,2 and it came in pretty as a picture!!! Thank you.
DN>I never think of that method of retrieving files. <|=]
I never use F5, 1 on an ASCII file. ctrl-F5 may take a couple more
keystrokes, but it gives you the option of converting your line ending to
soft or hard returns -- very valuable at times.
DN>I tried to save it and the pathname was invalid. Saved it with
DN>^F5,1,1 and then tried to retrieve it with F5,1 and still no go; WP
DN>just sits there displaying "DOS text conversion in progress." Is
DN>there something I've forgotten about retrieving ASCII files into WP
DN>5.1+?
Once you get it in, you should be able to save it with F7 or F10. If you got
"invalid pathname", it could be that your default or document directory is
protected.
DN>I found another ASCII file that I've had since before Internet that
DN>won't F5,1 Retrieve either. Maybe these files got corrupted during a
DN>Defrag, or WP 5.1+ did. I should possibly re-install 5.1+!
I sure wouldn't go through that trouble just to save a few keystrokes by
using the ctrl-F5 procedure. However, it would be a good idea to run CHKDSK
/F (from the DOS prompt), just to make sure your HD is OK.
