Hi Gary,
GW> You need to realize the equipment I did SW scanning on belonged to
GW> Uncle Sam. I was tweeking you because you said it was "impossible".
That's what I figured.....it takes the *good* equipment. In this case,
"Easy for you, difficult for me".
GW> The new WinRadio has the capability to scan shortwave and it will be
GW> interesting to know how well it will do. Maybe Bill Cheek has some
 GW> comments along that line.
That's what I'm anxious to find out. Right now I have a monitor that
nterfers
with one of my favorite frequencies, 5969, I think it is. When I was
istening
to TWA 800, it was horrendous. Went around the room turning things off, and
that's how I found it. I wonder what it would do to the WinRadio? The
IC-R71A sits about 6 foot away from the 'puter, and I am using a 75' longwire
outside.
GW> Before having computer controlled SW scanning radios, I did it the
GW> old fashioned way; hours and hours of turning the dial on an R-390.
 GW> :-)
I started with the RS DX 440. Our son had one of the earlier models and I
loved it. Does the DX 160 sound right? When he left home, he wouldn't leave
it with his dear old mom. Rotten kid! Seems to me, he'd already traded up
to a newer model but that was a while back and I can't remember which one it
was.
GW> The only scanner I currently have is a Uniden BC-100XLT.
Not big enough for around the Dallas area!
