RJ> Ah, but this a'int the same old Rangers as we have all known. These
RJ> guys have something going for them that hasn't been here in a long
RJ> time. Chemistry!! It was never allowed to come to the surface when
RJ> Valentine or Kennedy was here at the reins. Look at what is happening
RJ> in Boston, now. Yeah, they have sustained a lot of injury, but there
RJ> is something else wrong with that club. Kennedy hasn't a clue how to
RJ> get the best out of the talent he has. Look at how Seattle has played
RJ> since Jr and Johnson have gone down. Look how the Rangers played when
RJ> Gonzales and Clark were down.
I'll grant you that! The collapse of the Red Sox has to be found somewhere,
and I guess chemistry is as good an explanation as any. You've also got
a good point about the Mariners, especially last year. This year they
seem to be having a bit more trouble, but they've got 2 major players out
(Griffy & Johnson) rather than just one.
As a longtime KC Royals fan, I know how far chemistry can carry a team. The
1985 World Championship team didn't have the stats of most champs, but they
always seemed to find a way to win. Looking back at that team, I find
it pretty amazing that they accomplished what they did! However, I don't
think ANY amount of chemistry could save this years team...
RJ> does, oh well. But it sure is great seeing 40000 in the stands this
RJ> close to NFL training camp time. Even the talk shows are a buzz over
RJ> the Rangers. Time was, not so very long ago, that all you heard from
RJ> anyone was football around here, even in the thick of baseball season.
RJ> Be glad for all of us that are here that this place is slowly turning
Don't get me wrong; if it wasn't for the fact that I've recently relocated
to the Pacific Northwest, I'd be rooting for the Rangers! As it is, I'd
like to see them get the wildcard so they can get the "never been in
the playoffs" monkey off their back. I'm just not ready to award them
the AL West title halfway through the season, especially with their history.
However, I wish them luck!
