------Quoting Roger Nelson-------------------
RN>I understand that Sinatra owned a goodly portion of "The
RN>Manchurian Candidate." I recall that my brother really
RN>liked that film and the book. I'm glad to hear that they
RN>are putting all that extra, pertinent info on the DVD and I
RN>can only hope they aren't placing promos for other films on
RN>them, as they do on tapes.

I heard the story that Sinatra essentially owned the distribution
rights on the "Manchurian Candidate" and that after the Kennedy
assassination he directed that the film be removed from distribution. A
number of years later, after having forgotten his instructions were
still in place, Frank said in an off-hand conversation that he always
liked the film and wondered why nobody ever showed it anymore. He was
told that it was due to his own distribution instructions previously
given. He said "Well let's dust that sucker off and get it out into
the distribution channel again." Hence, we are now all fortunate
enough to be able to again see this really well-made film.
Regards,
Ken
