Rod, at 11:56 on Tue, Apr 04 1995, you wrote to Bill Grimsley ... No matter where you are (dunno about BG> Win-OS/2 though), it will gently close everything which BG> is running at the time, then shut down. RS> Yeah, a deficiency IMO. Dunno, C-A-D in Windows just kills the offending app as you know, but rather than its non-presence in OS/2 being a deficiency, I think it's just a different mindset myself, as OS/2 handles its critical errors differently. The WPS should theoretically never lock up, as it's a parent process and can't be killed as such without killing the OS too, hence their use of Ctl-Esc to either bring up the Window List from which dodgy apps can be selectively killed, even if the PC appears to have hung (remember the oft-stated "press Ctl-Esc and go and make a cup of tea" suggestion?). In a way, I prefer not using C-A-D for anything other than a full soft reset, as it's just too easy to fuck up if you're normally a Win user, have booted native DOS instead, and accidentally hit C-A-D to stop an offensive DOS app. BG> BTW, I installed the fullpack yesterday, and all of my previous Warp BG> problems have now gone. So much for the zealots' claim that Warp redbox BG> was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Fullpack might be though. |-) RS> You're done for now boy, bragging about how well it works, dont you ever RS> learn Sure, but I just like to live dangerously and temp fate. Works too. |-) Regards, Bill @EOT: --- Msgedsq/2 3.04* Origin: VK4CQ, Logan City, Qld. (3:711/934.18) SEEN-BY: 640/305 690/718 711/809 934 30163/9 @PATH: 711/934 |
