Pointed out by a mate:

Vista Upgrade licence requires XP installed vs "show it the silver
disk while installing following a format".

XP licence states that as soon as the user upgrades then the XP licence is
then rendered null & void.

OK.

So now your Vista install needs re-installing.......In theory you now have
no XP licence.......so in strict theory no re-install of vista for you
matey boy.
