Ah - "firearm" is a legalistic term of art. Perhaps a slingshot,
or even just the rock, is considered a "firearm" also?

firearm
n.
A weapon, especially a pistol or rifle, capable of firing
a projectile and using an explosive charge as a propellant.

But are all the stupid laws in circulation really needed?
