SICK CHILD'S MOTHER WAS TREATED LIKE A CRIMINAL
A Sheriff's Deputy and Child Protective Service Worker took Adrian
Chavez from his mother and told her they were placing him in a foster
home. Can you imagine the trauma to a very sick child taken from his
mother, put in the hands of strangers, then taken to the hospital where
it was questionable whether the mother would be allowed to see him?
The sobbing mother even kneeled to the police and said, "Please don't
take my child." This is called child protection? I call it cruel and
unwarrented punishment against a child. In a totalitarian country one
might expcet things like this, but this is America. How could we ever
have allowed these people to acquire such power?
Here is a mother with a leukemia-ridden child who the last six months
continued to have heavy doses of chemotherapy with no relief. The
child's white blook cell count continued to rise. The distraught
mother wanted to try something gentler, an herbal treatment, rather
than subject the child to more of the painful medical treatment.
For this Elena, his mother, was treated like a criminal.
