The only concern I ran into is that the long filenames require more
memory on the server itself...
Even though long file names are a "neat" thing,  if a shorter name will
suffice,  it'll save disk space (the space of the long name,  plus the
short 8+3 alias) and memory (to keep all those filenames in cache).
