Today, two of my sons (Travis and Daryl) were supposed to have a trial. They 
were victims of false accusations, and today, we had some relief. Here is 
what happened....
For some unknown reason (at least unknown to me), the DA dropped all of the
charges against Travis, and reduced the felony charge to a minor misdemeanor 
on Daryl. (YEAH!) In exchange for this, the boys were both placed on 
informal
probation" for 6 months. Daryl pled "no contest in his best interest" (I 
on't
remember what the charge was since it happened so fast and so unexpectedly. I
think it was attempted battery or something like that.) Anyway, when the 6 
months is up, the charges against Daryl will be dismissed and then it will be
erased from his record!
No, it is not a complete victory, but it is a MAJOR victory. Travis had been
falsely accused of molesting our 9 year old daughter. Daryl had been falsely 
accused of raping our 9 year old daughter. Our daughter and Daryl did engage 
in some inappropriate looking and touching (almost a year ago - they were 
both clothed and there was NO penetration) but that was the extent of it. If 
the DA had prosecuted them and IF he had won, both of the boys could have 
been placed in the California Youth Authority for up to 8 years! As I 
understand it, this particular DA does NOT make deals and he does NOT back
down - but he did today, and for that I am grateful. I don't like the idea
of the boys being on "informal probation" for 6 months, but I am so happy 
that it did not go the other way. This is something that we can live with 
since it is temporary, and will not be on their records. It also reinforces 
what we have been telling CPS (Children's Protective Services) all along. 
Now that this is over and done with, perhaps CPS will finally let our 
aughter
come home. She has been in a foster home since November 28, 1994, a total of
108 days. I know it will be a little longer, but I am confident that today 
as
a major hurdle that we needed to cross over before we could get her home, and
now that it is done, there is NOTHING to stop us from getting her back! 
Thank you for all the support you have given me over the past couple of 
months. It has been greatly appreciated. (I know, we still have a little ways
to go, but we'll get there.) I hope it was heart-warming to hear our good
news (at least it's good news to us).
