Lawrence, that Toshiba T-1200 computer will work nicely off 12 volts DC
using a 3.1 mm barrel connector wired for CENTER PIN POSITIVE.
This particular size plug is "fat & short".  Took me many miles to find
a source for the plug - which fits the JVC PORTABLE VIDEO.
The obvious thing about 12volt DC operation for search and rescue -
well, that's obvious...
If you have great trouble finding a plug, let me know... I can get one
for you, and they are not that expensive ...just difficult to find.
