subject: Type of bbs?

Hi Tony,
TL> Don't know, but I'm looking at the possibility of providing a WWW
 TL> based
TL> front end to almost any Fido BBS. This "front end" will also be
 TL> able to
TL> operate independently in the sense that the BBS doesn't need a
 TL> 24x7
TL> link, only periodic connections for message transfer to the WWW
 TL> site.
There exists a prog from Aus., BBS2WEB, that will generate a set of HTML
pages from your Max filebase.
You can also get GoServe web server from EWS by Mike Cowlishaw or Xitami,
both with FTP and Gopher servers..
Now, not being a techy in this area, slap me if I'm talking complete crap. If
the server is run in local
mode, would it be possble to write something on the lines of:
At the BBS end, spwawn to the server instead of Max/fax/what-have-you and at
the user end, either dial using you browser
or Dial other ISP software and use you browser.
Just a though that would give people the familiar gui with maximum dl speeds.
If you work something out, add me to any list you may keep of interested
partys

Cheers,
John
