Why would your amplifiers put any load on your mixer outputs?  I'd think it 
would all be on either crossover outputs or limiters.  
If a 1K load degrades your sound quality, it's consumer and not pro gear that 
wou're running.  Balanced or unbalanced only matter as to noise rejection, 
and generally result in the same loading per line driver in opamp based 
designs.
