The message from Chris Topham rises higher:
TR>>> "All The Madmen" for one, and maybe "The Bewlay Brothers"
KN>> How much of that prgginess is due to Bowie and how much
KN>> to Visconti, do you think? This was around the time
KN>> Visconti was producing Gentle Giant's _Acquiring the
KN>> Taste_ and there seems to be some cross fertilization.
TR> I don't know GG at all. Are you saying that some of their 1970-1971
TR> material
TR> a) sounds similar to Bowie's material of the time
TR> and b) that this is true of _both_ "The Man Who Sold The World"
TR> _and_ "Hunkydory"?
CT> No, but .............
TR> Crumbs, I think, is what I say to that. I must investigate.
CT> .......... you *definately* should. Maybe start with _Octopus_ or _In
CT> a Glass House_.
I recommend _Free Hand_ too, my favorite of all that I've heard, but I
haven't heard "In a Glass House" yet. I do like the live version
of the title song on _Playing The Fool_, though.
