Might want to check out REXX proceedures (DLL's) to see if it can be done
that way. I have several REXX files that relate to communication proceedures
but am not sure if they contain the information you are looking for.
rexxterm.zip /b REXXTERM is a full-function asynchronous communication
program for DOS and OS/2. It is the first program of its kind that uses the

RXAPPC.ZIP /b REXX/APPC Function interface Package This package provides
access to the OS/2 Communications Manager APPC Application Programming
Interface from REXX programs. This provides a fast and simple way to learn
APPC and to build communications pgms.
rxasyn20.zip RXASYNC - Version 2.0, 26th Dec 1994 A REXX DLL which provides
FULL exposure of the OS/2 ASYNC communications API and thus enables REXX
users to fully exploit the scripting advantages of REXX and OS/2 serial
communications. Works with SIO and standard COM
Some of the OS/2 REXX web sites could possibly have the info you are looking
