Such hazy language just gives them leeway to prosecute whom they like and let others walk. Golly, I wonder whom they'll prosecute and whom they'll let walk. Firing on an intruder isn't the best thing to do anyway, because he's probably armed, and one doesn't want to find out who has better aim. It's best if he doesn't know you are there, so that he takes what he wants and leaves, preferably as the cops are arriving. To guard against intruders, it's best to have a security alarm that automatically calls a service or the cops. Having a dog also helps, even if it's a small yap dog, because the noise will spook him off. Anything that makes noise will scare him away, but if you find him, he'll feel threatened, which is why a lot of people are killed by discovered intruders. As for women breaking into your house to steal your kids, that's not likely. They're more likely to try an abduction from a public place, because they'll be too afraid to enter your home uninvited.
