Nothing ages out faster than old Science Fiction.
I recommend that everyone find and read "Paris in the Twentieth
Century" by Jules Verne. Two things. It proves that even good
writers started somewhere, and that how wrong futureists can be.
"Paris" is a true lost book. The Ghost of Verne is probably
wishing it had stayed lost. It is a BAD book, but a good read, don't buy
it, check the Library. The manuscript spent 85 years locked in a safe in
the Verne family that no one had the keys to. In the mid 90s a great
grandson called a locksmith. Behold, a lost Verne book! That fact and
that fact alone got it published. It was rejected on the first go around
and for good reason.
My one copy (bought in the remainder bin) I lent to Rondey and later
shipped to Jay Hailey, with instruction to pass it further down the line,
DON'T send it back. So I don't have one any more.
