WEll, got a REAL good look at the Avanti at the restoration place today.
Didn't have time to look it over closely but I saw that I was wrong
about the "STUDEBAKER" on the trunk lid. It definitely IS script offset
to the right of the car. Don't know how I missed that so bad before.
Paid particular attention to the engine compatment too, and it is
definitely a Studebaker engine. Looked like a 289, and had chrome valve
covers like the old Caddie engine. The valley cover is also chrome.
For some weird reason the fan was painted bright ORANGE which I never
saw on a studbuster before. (They were replacing all the belts and
checking pulley alignment. No supercharger.)
MAybe I'll get a chance to look it over better if it stays around a
while.
