Actually, I was rather more interested in finding out how much recoil was
generated. I heard a rumor when I was in 'Nam that they had tested a 5.56mm
version that hung out of the right door of a Loach (OH-6A). The story went
on to say that the thing generated so much recoil that they could not
control the yaw of the helicopter during firing. Also, the blast in the
cockpit necessitated a front door that had the bottom half of its plexiglas
replaced with an aluminum panel. As much as I loved flying the Loach, I
knew that it was no gun platform. Rockets maybe, M-60's sure, but not a
forward firing mini. (except maybe that fictional one that has been
floating around this thread in .22lr.)
