Hell-o. I read your message to this other individual about cables, hard disk
recording, analog machines and such and I would like to know some things:
1) I have built a workable, yet far from perfect, digital computerized
recording studio in my home. I have one sound card with L and R stereo RCA
ins and outs running two channels each respectively from a Mackie 16 channel
mixer. From there it all goes into my archaic but still workable Crown IC
50
pre-amp, Yamaha P-2200 power amp to my AR 3a (11a guts) speakers. When
ixing
to my quite-average TEAC (made in China or something) cassette deck, there is
some hiss from the system itself. One would be somewhat hardpressed to make
an issue of it however.
2) But the cables are old speaker wire. One must wrap an exposed end around
the speaker's poles for the + and -. I did, however, cut the wires to exact
lengths for each speaker connection.
3) Question is, are my wires with this equipment gonna really make any
difference at this point? I've had this stuff for about 20 years maximumly
(bought the Crown in 1974 and have all the original papers) along with the
speakers and the Yamaha in the late 70's as I recall when I was but a mere
youth.
Look forward to your comments.
