Actually one would not have to be a better shot than the intruder, just
confident enough that they shoot well enough to kill a man at 15 feet,
in the dark.

Try shooting one of those stirofoam plates at about 25 feet with your
sidearm, if  you hit it you are good to go.

Oh yeah, no head shots, chest only.
