Which is interesting, since I don't recall if the upper surface was
visible in that ep. I got the # from the prep shots in "The Science of
Star Trek." I don't recall the scene particularly well, but could the
shot with the visible 1701-D possibly be existing stock footage of the
E-D?
However, I've been told that the upper and lower NCC-#'s of the
Bozeman from TNG"Cause and Effect" were also dissimilar (one 19xx,
the other 18xx). OTOT, this comes from a certain nameless Okuda-bashing
individual with whom we are both acquainted, so it is considered suspect
until independantly proven otherwise. Oh well...
