Just a quick note for those considering editing software/hardware.
I've been using videomedia vlan cards and and the videomedia oz editing pod 
for about a year and a half.  Oz offers a professional editing enviroment on 
your pc or mac. All the features you want, edl, split edits etc. PLUS!
when we  bought a new switcher that was unsupported, it only took 3 days to 
get driver that works great.  Now we (at work) have bought an accom, I tried 
accoms solution for controlling it but it didn't work.  I called  videomedia 
and they promised a driver within a week.  Support from them has been and 
continues to be excellent.
