subject: 5.3b patches are released

AC ->Do you (or does anybody) know if this patch solves _in fact_ ALL the
->bugs and horrors in a "terminating" way.
So far I haven't seen any reports of major problems with the 5.3b
patch.
AC ->I'm really tired of hoping that "wonderful" Clipper version to work
->fine (at least like 5.2e) What about CDX?
I don't think you'll see the stability of 5.2e in 5.3 ever. Personal
opinion, though.
What about CDX? I'm not familiar with any problems that weren't
addressed by the 'b' patch.
AC ->Also, does anybody know if CA Clipper developping team has any good
   ->plans for all of us?
Clipper is being put into "maintenance mode" and no new features are
planned, according to the product owner at last years TechniCon.
There's a German company named Alaska Software GMBH (or something
very similar) that wrote a product called xBase++ for OS/2, which has
been out for a few years. It supposedly uses 100% Clipper syntax and
creates native OS/2 executables. They're in the final stages of porting
it to 32 bit for Windows 95, and the people who have seen it seem to be
amazed. If you have Internet access, look up http://www.afaonline.com
for more info.
When it's released, I'll post the details.
It's not Clipper as such, but if it uses the Clipper language, who
cares who makes the compiler and libraries?
