The first Hammarlund I got to use was at a Navy base Ham Shack.

A HQ-170 (no Clock), I fell in love with it, but never bought any
Hammarlund gear for my own shack.

At another Navy Ham Shack they had a National NC-303(?) receiver and a
T-350-XM AM transmitter (700 Watts I think).

The transmitter would frequently blow a fuse and the side panel had to
be taken off to replace it.

The panel was approximately five foot high and 15 inches wide and was
made of Steel.

After replacing the fuse several times I comshawed two circuit breakers
and mounted them on the side panel so just pressing the reset button
could get me back on the air.

I think "comshawed" is an old Navy word that means getting something
from another division without any funds being exchanged.

I forgot that I had replaced the Hallicrafters S-38E with a used
Hallicrafters, a SX-42, that had coverage from 540 KC/S to 108 MC/S.

That was a real nice receiver.
