Having grown up literally across the street from North Fort Lewis, and having McChord AFB almost as close (and being an AF family, so going on base fairly regularly), military noise in general becomes background noise really quickly; even the planes don't bother me. But there are exceptions. A friend of mine was living in the flight path for McChord, when one day, out in his yard, he looked up as a C-130 flew overhead, coming in for a landing. He watched it land, then walked inside and called the flightline. "Did you know," he told the Sgt. in charge, "that the tires on a C-130 have to be inflated to 145psi?" "Well... no," said the Sgt. "Why?" "Because one just flew over my house and I read that on the tire." Nobody flew *quite* that low again.
