ML> gmail is mail only, like hotmail... you can _store_ your PDF on gmail ML> by emailing to your gmail account and then leaving it there... that way ML> you can go to yout gmail account and read that email any time you want ML> and thus also be able to download the pdf and put it where ever you ML> need to... JP> That would not work for me )\/(ark. no, not for others to access, no... JP> I have the .pdf on a HD and on a Flash Card too, to be sure. and you could also have it stored in your gmail mailbox ;) JP> I need it to be available for others to find and D/L too. then you will need some sort of web or ftp site to store it on... lycos, angelfire or another freebie webhost or even possibly with your ISP if it isn't AOL (ie: timewarner, local telco, etc)... JP> After all, a genealogy is to be shared. hehe, i didn't know that... i got my dad into it many years back after one of our reunions... they were selling a book covering a lot of us over 300 years here in the south (IIRC)... anyway, my father and his siblings were listed in the book and we basically started tracing back from there... i actually started by putting the data from the book into "brother's keeper" and once i got back some 6 or 8 generations, i ran a few reports and printouts... he was impressed and we "discovered" a few "anomolies" too... even found that a canuck or two came down this way and married into the family ;) at least one was _already_ in the family, too! O:) hahaha... anyway, dad uses the windows version of PAF for most everything now... and i take gedcoms and run them thru a few other windows programs before importing them to a database on my website that does all the charts and such... editing and adding records and everything... the database also keep info private if the individual is still alive as well as being designed for multiple users and multiple gedcoms of whatever families so that work can be done in collaboration all via the web ;) )\/(ark* Origin: (1:3634/12) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 3634/12 123/500 379/1 633/267 |
