subject: Programming Problem

I run a file xyz.exe from directory abc. This file can be run from any
location by specifying its path. I need to write a program which will tell
me which directory the file is being run out of ( in this case abc ). I
know how to find the current directory but this is not always the directory
the file is being run out of. How can I find the directory I am running the
file out of????
