Hello Nancy, nice talking to you !
NB> Ah. NOW I know what you are wondering about. :) That column just
NB> lets you know if you have a .rep (or .new) reply packet for that bbs or
NB> not. It will say "No" if you don't have one (or you've
renamed the old
NB> one such that it isn't recognizable by the reader), "Yes"
if you have
NB> one sitting there but not open at the moment, or "Open"
if you have one
NB> there that you are in the process of adding messages to (for instance,
NB> if you have two or more days worth of message packets from Doc's that
NB> you are reading and replying to), a common occurence here.
You sound like a person that I could trust, Nancy. But all my
packets show NO on that line. No matter what I do with the Global
menu. I had a look at it again and all the toggles that in my mind
could change that line to YES or OPEN are set to YES and still it
is stuck on NO. Not a biggie as I can still keep track of what I do
and where I am in a packet.
NB> You will only see the "Open" if you don't have the settings set to
NB> close the reply packet upon closing the message packet, ie, set to
NB> close the reply packet(s) upon exiting the reader instead. (Read the
NB> help files for the different options in global, mail packet options.)
The help file did not help me. I seem to not be understanding
most of the terminology here. As I said, no biggie.
NB> As you might guess, I'm getting packets from multiple bbs's (7 of the
NB> 8 I "call")... and I often don't get back to them for a couple of
NB> days, so I have a list of packets to deal with all the time (with .qwk
NB> packets carefully renamed so that they don't clobber each other...).
So do I, two of them. My main problem is that I have too many
systems and I, at times, will D/L into one then I get on the LAN
and move a packet to the system that I am on, I have to be carefull
as you say, and rename them accordingly. So far so good.
Thanks for your time and thanks again to this nice friend who
did the BW patch. You said that it would totally die in 2017 ? I
wonder if Dale's patch would keep going, I will be 84 by them and I
do not want to miss FIDO. ;-))
... I got this old Compaq going again.
... Fun it was ! But I did not do it alone.
