Al, IMHO there is nothing wrong with turning on the BFO on a 'AM' RX. My first RX was a Hallicrafters S-38E, it had a switch to turn on a BFO to listen to CW or SSB (if you could call the circuitry in the S-38E a BFO) IIRC it was just a wire routed around some sections in the chassis that got 'switched in'. I read Your message a few days ago and just got around to answering it. After I read it I thought about the WRR-2 RX I listened on while the ship was docked in Japan, I heard a K6 on it. Here are some more URLs I found the other day when I went looking to see if I remembered the correct model number for the WRR-2 RX. http://www.navy-radio.com/navy-rcvrs.htm http://www.navy-radio.com/index.htm http://www.virhistory.com/navy/ship.htm Hope You enjoy looking at these also. 73 de Ed W9ODR .- -... .. --. .-.. .. -.. .-.-.- * SLMR 2.1a #T348 * It's 11:56pm.
