What you quote here makes it all too obvious why so many
feministic women are not going into these fields: they are not really
motivated. Indeed, if someone gives up without a fight just because
some authority figure says something that could be vaguely interpreted
as doubts of the percent of upper level skills in their group, then
they will never make it anyway.
     Guys routinely react to this sort of challenge with a " I will
show them!!!" response  and make extra effort.
     In all sorts of professions, the guys work until they have their
second stroke and have to be nudged out while the women drift away
decades earlier.
     Why have we all apparently forgot that motivation and a grim
determination to overcome obstacles is very often the difference
between success and failure in whatever career one chooses??
      What sort of person waits to get enough warm fuzzy encouragement
before following their dreams?
